Diapers, Coupons, and Bills, OH MY!

Let me first explain how this project came to be. I love to write. In fact, I probably should have majored in journalism or creative writing, but I never could decide on a career path so instead I chose psychology (thinking that might help me figure it all out), and I promised myself that I would continue writing as a hobby. Well, I fulfilled that promise as much as anyone who vows to "start the diet on Monday." And now, other than 6 years of research papers, I have produced nothing more than grocery lists and greeting cards. Needless to say, I am quite disappointed with my lack of persistence. Maybe I need to pick a new passion. Or maybe I need to open a document and start typing. This post is evidence of my decision to do the latter.

A part of the reason I never did settle on a career path is because I've had only one career in mind since I was a little girl... I wanted to be a stay-at-home-mom. I went to college (and even graduate school) because I wanted to be educated, but I never wavered in my original career plan and I was lucky enough to find a husband who wanted a stay-at-home-wife as much as I wanted to be one.

Nine months ago, we welcomed a baby girl and shortly after her birth, I quit my job to stay home with her full-time and live out my dream of raising children with a parent at home. I had lots of reasons for wanting to stay home, but now that I actually am at home with Reese every day, those reasons have multiplied into a list too long to count. And while I'm so happy with my decision, there are times when I miss having a connection to the professional world; I miss contributing to something outside of my personal life; and I miss writing. So I decided to combine my passion for writing with my passion for full-time motherhood and dedicate this blog to celebrating the ups and downs of this incredible journey and the many women who have accepted this wonderful challenge and taken on a full-time life of diapers, coupons, and bills... Oh my!
